Just finished this Rebecca Taylor hoodie from a VK pattern. Absolutely loved the pattern and it knit up very fast. I made it with Cascade 220 held double, and knit the hood flaps all the way down to the bottom instead of having an open waistband.
Just need to sew on the pockets and buttons!

Today, I embarked on a wonderful

crafternoon: an afternoon solely devoted to the joys of creating crafts

After occupying many insomnia filled hours on DIY blogs (notably: design*sponge, craftgawker & polli), I had lots of ideas brewing. . . spent the day collecting random junk on main st. at iFound Gallery, Urban Source, some dollar stores, & the love of my life: Stepback on w. Broadway.

So here starts the crafternoon

Supplies were pretty easy to find. I used some leftover wool instead of twine like in the original version, and rummaged through my dad's toolbox for the hexagon studs.

Love the outcome!

the next thing I made were ~ bow tie paper clips ~ from How About Orange,

>I started with some random fabric ends I found in the house &&& my trusty new glue gun.

...et voila!

cuter than pie.

Now I just need to start eating Altoids by the millions so that I'll have a cute tin to store them in.

I am absolutely addicted to knitting with Classic Elite's "Twinkle Soft Chunky". It's a 100% virgin wool with fibres from New Zealand that are manufactured in China... the softest ever! Initially I decided to knit a cowl for KMG with it, and then eventually concluded that each roomie needed one for their birthday. Since they were all roughly close together, I've been whipping these out!

The "Savage Beauty" exhibit at the Met is running from May4th-August 7th and is a celebration of Alexander McQueen's work, visions and life. The exhibit explores his work as early as 1996, following his creations until his death in 2010. Most of the pieces are on loan from the Alexander McQueen Archive in London, however some are from Givenchy, and some from private collectors. It's a rare occasion that so many beautiful things will be in one room together. Take us on a jet plane to NYC please!

This aran sweater has been in progress since January... and is finally complete. My dad and I went and chose out 8 skeins of absolutely beautiful 100% merino called Merisoft Solid by Punta Yarns at Gina Brown's so that I could knit him a sweater for his birthday. For my sake, he was coaxed out of choosing mottled blue + gray and we decided on a dark green. The pattern is by Sirdar.
So satisfied with the finished product, and he is the happiest pa around!

Last weekend we indulged on some good eats in Victoria. On Blanshard and Johnson we visited a favourite of KMG and SA's: PIG BBQ Joint. It's a small corner location, with a laid back interior that kind of reminded me of Vancouver's Meat & Bread (another definite-favourite-must-eat). Equally as carnivorous, Pig offers: pork, pork, chicken, and... oh yeah, pork.

We're loving the new spring collection from Free People. Their new stuff, "Primal Scream" is modeled by Martha Hunt, who seems to be doing a great job showing it off for what it's worth (frolicking and jumping around in). Their knits, patterns & beads are all such original pieces, that are awesome mixed into any wardrobe. I recently found out that this company created Urban Outfitters, and don't get me wrong, I love the madness of UO as much as the next person, but the quality is not always the greatest. But kudos to this company! They've managed to keep up with the latest styles & quality through Free People, and appeal to the masses with Urban Outfitters.
